9th Grade
June 2, 2025:
Just a reminder that everything will close tomorrow for submission. Students should check Canvas to see if they owe anything. The 9th grade course is a pass/fail course. If your child received a P for the majority of quarters, the overall grade on their transcript will be a P. They will earn 1.0 high school credits for this course.
Any student taking a summer course through HVCC will need to get their Certificate of Residency turned in as soon as possible. All other students will need to get their Certificate of Residency between June 1st and Summer Bridge. The original needs to be mailed to my attention at 220 Ballston Ave. Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Students not taking a summer course can bring their COR to Summer Bridge.
Parents please complete this survey: https://forms.gle/
Here is some important information going forward:
-
We need updated IEPs/504 plans for any student with accommodations. There is a separate process with HVCC to have these for the college course. Please reach out to ccarlson@bscsd.org for assistance with this process.
-
Certificate of Residency: All students taking a college course need to submit a Certificate of Residency by July 18th, but it can’t be issued until after June 1st unless your child is taking a summer CHS course. Please see attached letter. Fall 2025 COR Letter.pdf
-
Summer Bridge is Thursday, July 17th and Friday, July 18th from 8:30 AM-2:30 PM. Students will work with their 10th grade teachers: Mr. Ackroyd, Mrs. Singer, and Mr. Snow
-
Summer CHS courses through HVCC begin July 7th.
-
Any student who did not submit their program forms, can scan and email them to asnow@bscsd.org.10th Grade Forms.pdf
-
We need all schools to send us each student’s high school transcript and 4th quarter report card at the end of June for state reporting. If we don’t receive these by July 1st, we will reach out to families to scan and email them to us.
If you or your child have any questions, we encourage them to reach out to the teachers:
Mr. Balet; jbalet@bscsd.org
Mr. Glogowski; mglogowski@bscsd.
Mrs. Lewis; blewis@bscsd.org
As you are planning for next school year, here are the tentative monthly visit dates: 9/12, 10/16, 11/5 (Expo), 12/16, 1/7, 2/12, 3/9, 4/14, 5/21 (Expo)

10th Grade
May 15, 2025:
We are looking forward to having students return to HVCC North on Wednesday, May 21st for the 9th and 10th Grade Student Project Exhibition. Students will arrive at 7:50 AM. Families and other guests are invited to attend from 9 AM-10:15 AM. Students should have already sent the teachers anything that needed to be printed as we are unable to print the morning of the Expo. Students should be coming with their boards filled out and their element of engagement. Any student not returning for next school year will need to turn in their program issued chromebook. All students who will be returning will keep their chromebooks until graduation. They should remain off and occasionally be charged so the battery lasts. I collected the permission forms for next school year at the last visit. 11th & 12th Grade_Incoming student forms 2025.26.docx Please make sure to scan and email them to me, or they can bring them on Wednesday if they haven’t turned them in yet. The May visit will end the quarter as well for our students as they will not have any new assignments in order to focus on their home school final exams. The grade they receive at interim will be very close to their final quarter grade. Interim grades will be mailed home next week. The 10th grade P-TECH course is a pass/fail course.
The HVCC course grade for Sociology will be posted on each student's WIReD account by Wednesday next week.
For high school, students have their end of year reflection due TOMORROW.
Engineering Students: Any student who chose Engineering needs to expect one of the following situations:
1- Student has taken either CHS College Algebra or Algebra II as a 10th grader- student is on track- no need for college courses. Student will take College PreCalculus through HVCC in the spring.
2- Student has not taken CHS College Algebra or Algebra II as a 10th grader- student needs to take CHS College Algebra through HVCC this summer in order to be able to take spring Engineering class and College PreCalculus.
3- Student has not taken CHS College Algebra or Algebra II as a 10th grader- student cannot take CHS College Algebra through HVCC this summer. This student will take Algebra 2 at home school as a junior. In the spring, their HVCC courses will consist of 1-2 electives for the degree that are offered on campus. Student MUST take College PreCalculus during the summer between junior and senior year. There are no other electives available to students by senior year as the Engineering pathway is based on both Calculus I and Physics I.
Students will need to get a Certificate of Residency. This is a yearly occurrence. Please see the attached letter with the instructions as a reminder. Fall 2025 COR Letter.pdf
HVCC Summer Classes- FREE
HVCC is offering free summer college classes again this summer. Students can take up to 8 credits through HVCC. Classes are either remote (taught over zoom) or online (assignments posted, students complete them by due dates). This is a great opportunity for students to take courses of interest that may not be part of their degree pathway or to get ahead on courses in their degree pathway. If a student has previously failed a class or wants to retake one for a higher grade, but does not want to use their 1 freebie retake through the grant, they can take it over the summer and it won’t count against the grant. Students will NOT register using Voyager, but will need to complete the attached student registration form and scan and email it to me at asnow@bscsd.org. Summer CHS 2025.pdf Students will fill out through Semester/Year (Summer 2025) and Name of Home High School. Students do not need to fill in a CRN, but will need to put the subject code (Ex. ACTG) and course # (Ex. 110), course title and number of credits. Please see the list of courses here: https://www.hvcc.edu/
Scheduling for 2025-2026 School Year
Students will take the following with P-TECH as 11th grade students:
-
English 11
-
Applied Mathematics in Clean Technologies
-
Environmental Science & Sustainability
Students who are currently in Algebra 2 at their home school will take College PreCalculus in the spring semester of junior year from HVCC. They should NOT take PreCalculus at their home school. Students who are going to take Algebra 2 at their home school as juniors will take College Algebra through HVCC if applicable to their pathway.
Job Shadow Placements Needed: We are in the process of placing current juniors for a 1 week (unpaid as they get course credit) job shadow for the summer in the following career clusters: Marketing/Business, Engineering Sciences, Clean Energy, and Surgical Tech. If you are interested in hosting a student, rising senior, or have a company that is interested please let me know! Students can do both in person and remote work.
If your child is not planning to continue with the P-TECH program, please email me.
There is no summer bridge program between 10th and 11th grade. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
11th Grade
June 9, 2025:
We are 1 week away from our Capstone presentations. Students have been working very hard to get things done. Students will be able to begin setting up their presentations on Monday. There will be no time or ability to set up on Thursday due to the graduation. Students will not have access to the classroom on Thursday. For students who are still in need of assistance, the teachers have a sign up that is out for each of them each day. They help students in the order in which they sign up. If a student has a quick question, it may be more efficient for them to send a message in Canvas. This week started with students inventorying where they are at for their final project. They also were tasked with creating a “needs list” for their set up. Students worked on revisions and resubmissions of their TED Talk Part 1 & 2 visuals, Problem Statement Part 2, Proposed Solution, and TED Talk Parts 1 & 2.
Students will take their NYS English Regents at their home high school on Tuesday, June 17th at 8 AM.
Next Week’s Expo
Students will arrive at 7:45 AM (regular time). They will put their belongings upstairs in room 204. They won’t need anything for the Expo other than their projects. Students will attend the Graduation ceremony from 8:30 AM-9:30 AM then go to their tables for the Expo. The Expo will end at 10:30 allowing students to clean up from 10:30-10:45. Students should either dress up or wear their Clean Tech shirt. If a student can no longer find their Clean Tech shirt, please have them see me as I always have extras. We ask that students do not wear hats during the Expo and that they also keep cell phones away and any beverages hidden from view.
If you have any questions for the high school teachers, please contact them:
Mr. Balet; Environmental Science & Sustainability, jbalet@bscsd.
Mr. Glogowski; Applied Math in Clean Tech, mglogowski@bscsd.org

We are 1 week away from our Capstone presentations. Students have been working very hard to get things done. Students will be able to begin setting up their presentations on Monday. They gave their first round of presentations on Wednesday this week, were given feedback, and should be at the point of revising and resubmitting.
We will have Graduation Rehearsal on Wednesday, June 11th at 9 AM. This is mandatory. We will go over student dress code as students do not wear robes for graduation. We will also go over and practice processing in, going to their seats, sitting at the same time, and how they will walk up to get their certificates. Students will also receive their green Clean Tech chords that they can wear at their home school graduation. We will not be distributing chords the day of graduation as it is too busy.
Graduation- June 12th
Students arrive no later than 7:50 am. We will have them make sure their table is set, have breakfast, group photo and line up in the auditorium so that we may promptly start processing in at 8:30 AM. The Graduation will be over by 9:30 AM. Students will then go to their Expo tables. They are expected to return to their home school after Graduation. If you are planning on signing your student out of school on Thursday after the Graduation, please have them bring a note Wednesday so that we can enter them ahead of time.
